Meyers' guitars derive their unique
characteristics and tonal qualities from hand picked hard woods. The
resonance of the wood produces the tones which the electronics pick
up. Donald obtains most of his raw wood from an Amish lumber dealer
who likes to call him "Crawfish Don". Meyers uses certain hardwoods,
especially "figured" maples with intricate grain patterns that seem to
take on three-dimensional depth after Meyers stains and finishes them.
Flamed maple's rippling grain patterns give the appearance of fire.
Meyers also uses Birdseye Maple, Quilted Maple, Mahogany, Rosewood,
Swamp Ash, Alder, and Cherry.
